WELCOME LETTERS

IMPORTANT CONTACTS

That is someone else’s responsibility. My opinion really doesn’t count. Why should I care? You have heard – and probably used – one or all of those expressions yourself on occasion. The Greater Richmond Challenge is counter to these expressions...because how you feel and think does matter and will impact the future of our region.

During the course of this year’s Challenge, you will have opportunities to see Greater Richmond through many different lenses. Among them 1) a slice of what is being done across the region to deal with important issues, 2) others’ perspectives of how they view the current quality of life, and 3) a sense of how the focus issues really connect with one another.

We are often admonished to leave things better than we found them. With respect to our homes or jobs we understand that challenge. How does that play out when you broaden the charge to include the community? Simply put, it means citizens (you) need to be informed and involved. By committing to participate in this year’s Challenge, you have taken an important first step. I hope the experience moves you to become more involved and to encourage the same of your family, neighbors and friends.

Forbes recently recognized our community as a top location for business and careers - #7! Perhaps your Greater Richmond Challenge group will find ways to move us into the top 5…even to #1. Now that would be leaving the community better than you found it!

Thanks for making a difference.

Sincerely,

James W. Dunn
